Verruca Needling

Falknor’s Verruca Needling: A Minimally Invasive Treatment Guide

Falknor’s Verruca Needling Procedure is a minimally invasive treatment to cure verrucae. Verrucae are small, rough, wart-like growths that typically appear on the soles of the feet. They are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which enters the skin through tiny cuts or breaks. Once inside the skin, the virus causes the outer layer of skin cells to grow rapidly, resulting in the formation of a wart. Verrucae can be spread through direct contact with the virus, such as walking barefoot in public places like swimming pools or changing rooms.

What does a verruca look/feel like?

In the centre of the verruca, there may be multiple tiny black dots. The verruca can appear on its own or in a cluster with multiple other verruca. It can feel raised or bumpy and can have hard skin over the top which is sometimes mistaken for a corn.

Traditional Treatment Methods

Treating verrucae can be challenging as they often resist conventional treatments like over-the-counter medications, freezing (cryotherapy), and acid-based solutions. These treatments may provide temporary relief but often fail to get rid of the verruca completely, or, take multiple appointment sessions. They can also be very inconvenient to the patient from an activity point of view, being time-consuming and very costly.

Falknor’s Verruca Needling Procedure

Falknor’s Verruca Needling procedure is a minimally invasive procedure that involves puncturing the verruca with a fine needle which breaks down the verruca cell wall. This creates microtrauma and triggers the body’s immune response. As a result, the immune system is better able to recognise and attack the HPV, eventually fighting off the verruca.

Key Benefits of Falknor’s Verruca Needling

1. High Success Rate: Studies have shown this procedure has a success rate of over 69% in eliminating verruca’s, even in cases where traditional treatments have failed. As a comparison, cryotherapy has success rates of 30-50%.

2. Minimally Invasive: Unlike surgical excision, Falknor’s Verruca Needling is a minimally invasive procedure that can be performed in a clinical setting under a local anaesthetic.

3. Targeted Treatment: By directly targeting the verruca with microtrauma, Falknor’s Verruca Needling stimulates the body’s immune response specifically against the HPV, leading to targeted and effective treatment.

4. Quick Recovery: Most patients experience minimal to zero discomfort after Falknor’s Verruca Needling and can continue normal activities shortly after the procedure. Compared to traditional treatments, which may require multiple sessions, Falknor’s Verruca Needling offers a quicker path to recovery.

5. Long-Term Results: Unlike some traditional treatments that only provide temporary relief, Falknor’s Verruca Needling has been shown to produce long-term clearance of verruca’s, reducing the likelihood of recurrence.

6. Short Treatment Time: Treatment can easily be done in under an hour. The actual procedure may take less than 15
