When Ben Pattison, GB 800m runner, visited the clinic, it wasn’t about elite athlete fanfare or high-performance hype. It was about solving a problem. Like many of the people who walk through our doors each week, Ben was looking for answers to why certain aches and niggles were happening, and how best to prevent them becoming bigger issues down the line.
That’s the heart of what we do at RS Podiatry, whether you’re a professional athlete, a weekend jogger, or someone who just wants to get through the day without thinking about their feet.
In Ben’s case, we used precise digital gait analysis and 3D pressure mapping to understand how his feet moved under load. That information shaped the design of his Phits orthotics, which are lightweight, personalised, and performance-focused. For someone like Ben, those fine margins matter. But what’s often overlooked is how the exact same technology can help someone who’s not chasing a personal best, just comfort and freedom of movement.
In fact, we use the same approach with teachers, tradespeople, retirees, gym goers, runners, hikers, dog walkers… people who want to move more freely, avoid future problems, or finally get some relief from ongoing pain.

Phits orthotics are built from a scan of your actual movement, not just a static impression or visual guess. They’re tailored to your foot structure and gait, which means they’re more accurate, supportive and comfortable than anything off the shelf. Light, durable, and made to last, but more importantly, they’re made for you.
Of course, orthotics aren’t always the full answer. That’s why we also offer therapies that support tissue recovery and calm inflammation, especially useful if you’re dealing with longer-standing pain or overuse injuries.
Laser therapy is a good example. It’s completely pain-free and uses light energy to reduce inflammation, speed up repair and restore function, particularly useful for people with tendon issues, joint stiffness or soft tissue strains.
Shockwave therapy is another option, ideal for stubborn conditions like plantar fasciitis or Achilles tendinopathy that haven’t responded to rest or rehab alone. It uses acoustic soundwaves to stimulate healing in areas where the body needs a bit of extra help to get things going again.
All of these options, whether orthotics, laser or shockwave, are available to everyone. They’re not just reserved for athletes or complex cases. The same technology and thinking that helps an Olympic-level runner can help someone walk the dog without heel pain, get through a shift at work without burning arches, or stand in the kitchen cooking dinner without needing to sit down every ten minutes.
From our Meriden clinic, we look after people from all over Coventry and Solihull with patients often traveling from much, much further afield – something I am always grateful for. We take time to understand what’s going on, what you’ve already tried, and what your goals are — then tailor a plan that fits your lifestyle and helps you move forward.
So, whether you’re training for something big, recovering from an injury, or simply tired of living with discomfort, I’d love to help. You don’t need to be an athlete to be treated like one.
